ABOUT SENIOR EMPOWERMENT PROJECT
Living to a 100 and loving it
My name is John McMillan, and I am the Editor and Founder of Seniorempowermentproject.com. Having reached the age the of 76, I have been fortunate to have lived a rich, full life. I believe getting older is something we should celebrate and embrace, not something to fear. After all, it’s a privilege not granted to everyone. Every day is a new chance to grow, learn, and live fully. It’s not the end of the story, it’s a new chapter we get to write on our own terms.
Unfortunately, "aging" has become big business, filled with self-proclaimed "anti-aging" and "longevity" experts selling confusing and misleading advice and products disguised as science. (I call them: Longevity, Inc.) There is no Fountain of Youth, no magic elixir or pill to reverse aging. Chasing these gimmicks only distracts from what really works: proven, practical, and achievable methods for living a long, healthy, and purposeful life.
I am not a doctor or scientist, nor do I claim to be an "expert," just an ordinary older adult navigating this journey with you.
SeniorEmpowermentProject.com is for Seniors who are tired of the B.S. and want real-world, practical, and commonsense information, insights, and resources to stay healthy, happy, and financially secure.
I started Senior Empowerment Project because I know there are others out there, like me, who want the truth—not gimmicks. We’re living longer but not healthier and society wants to push us aside. Screw that. We’ve got experience, wisdom, and a hell of a lot left to do. This site is about taking control of our health, our mindset, and our future.
WHAT YOU’LL FIND HERE
This isn’t a place for passive aging. There is no just “growing old gracefully” here—we are strong, sharp, passionate, and engaged. We have wisdom that should be shouted from the rooftops, experiences that should be shared, and a future that should be seized with both hands. Here’s what I focus on:
✅ Health & Wellness – What actually works, no fads
✅ Mental and brain health-- Keeping the mind active is just as important as physical health ✅ Exercise –Staying physically active is essential for older adults to maintain mobility, strength, and overall well-being
✅ Mindset & Attitude –Mental attitude is the most important aspect of creating a long, healthy, happy and exciting life
✅ Purpose & Passion – Find it, build it, live it. It has a profound impact on health and longevity
✅ Senior Safety & Security – Because scams and dangers are real
✅ Technology & Change –Embracing technology can improve communication, safety, independence and access to essential services
✅ Financial Health-- Smart financial planning allows for more freedom and less stress
✅ Lifestyle & Fun – Travel, culture, new experiences make life fun and exciting
✅ Advocacy & Action – Fighting for our generation’s future. This isn’t just talk. We’re pushing for real change—policies that support seniors, communities that engage us, and a future where we’re respected, not dismissed.
The McMillan Prospective is a comprehensive collection of original blog posts offering decades of experience-based insights into the issues that matter most to seniors today, as well as, what lies ahead in this rapidly changing world. Backed by extensive research, these posts cut through the B.S. and discuss the truths about aging well. Alongside my own writing, you’ll find hand-picked news articles that have been vetted, broken down by topic, and stripped of the usual B.S. Just up-to-date, useful, and honest information you can actually use.
